Meet the team.

The Movement Improvement Clinic is owned and operated by healthcare providers that understand the value of both theoretical understanding and practical knowledge through their own personal movement experience. We want to use our diverse set of skills and experience to help you feel better, move better, and become the best version of yourself.

Alex Hammond - Principal Osteopath & Owner of MIC

Hi! My name is Alex.

I come from a small town called Terang in Southern Victoria, but have lived in a few places up and down the East Coast of Australia since leaving there at a young age.

I first started my university education in a Bachelor of Arts at Griffith University on the Gold Coast, but after one year I transferred into a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences at Southern Cross University in Lismore. I graduated from SCU in 2018 with a Master of Osteopathic Medicine then moved to Newcastle, where I continued my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Newcastle. I completed the Bachelor of Arts with a double major in creative writing and linguistics in 2023, and am in the process of applying for medicine.

I have a keen interest in the function of the human body and love combat sports/martial arts like Brazilian jiu jitsu and mixed martial arts, as well as Winter sports like snowboarding.

I originally came to The Movement Improvement Clinic as a patient after a severe shoulder injury, and consequently became a big believer in its methods. I bought MIC in 2022 because I love the space and equipment it provides for our patients, and it allows me to fully utilise my knowledge and skills to accommodate for each patient’s needs.

Ana Domi - Remedial Massage Therapist

Hi! My name is Ana. I am a remedial massage therapist with a special interest in the science and art of movement.

I come from a city that was historically a health spa village in Upper Silesia called Jastrzębie-Zdrój, but I grew up in Melbourne in the 90s. I have since traveled to Japan and then California to learn about float tank-based therapies. I moved to the Central Coast a few years ago where I completed the Diploma of Remedial Massage at TAFE NSW.

I have a background in performance art, particularly jazz-ballet, music theatre, and improvisation. My formal studies are in arts and philosophy, and I am currently completing a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Physiotherapy).

I am continuously learning more about how the various systems in the body interact and integrate. This gives me a great platform for finding an approach unique to each client's needs.

Jazmin Eather - Remedial Massage Therapist

Hi!

My name’s Jaz and I’m a Remedial Massage Therapist.

I grew up in the Hills district of Sydney and moved to Newcastle in 2019 in search of a slower paced, community-based lifestyle.

I have a special interest in dance and sports rehabilitation and proudly work with the Newcastle Knights. I’m a dancer and flow prop enthusiast and have a great respect for the body and its movement. I graduated with my Diploma of Remedial Massage mid-2024 where I learnt an array of manual therapies, assisting and assessing in musculoskeletal dysfunction and understanding the mechanics of the body.

I have a real love for movement, am constantly learning more, as well as looking for other skills to add to my repertoire. This is why I chose to come work at MIC, as I am confident that it will continue to expand my horizons.

Calum Acutt - Practice Manager

Hi I'm Calum. I'm the Practice Manager here at MIC.

From Brisbane originally, I moved down to Newcastle in 2022 for a change and for the beaches. Eventually I found The Movement Collective here at Waratah and met Alex. I got to know Alex better when he helped me work through some shoulder and hip pain. I've worked for a ton of different businesses over the years and so I decided to come onboard to help run MIC.

I've always been a keen rock climber and boulderer, mainly indoors but occasionally I'll go for an outdoor sesh. Since finding The Movement Collective it's quickly become my favourite activity to work on my handstands and my flexibility. A big fan of running and swimming, you'll often catch me at a parkrun or the Merewether Baths.

I love working with people and I love the space we have here at MIC. I'm here to help with any booking and business needs.

Jasmine Cavicchia - Assistant Practice Manager

Hey, I'm Jasmine!

I am a born and raised Novocastrian, living in Elermore Vale my whole life.

I was introduced to MIC through The Movement Collective being where I train, which was lucky as I injured myself quite badly. I went to see Alex which led to regaining full movement and making a full recovery!! From personal experience I cannot recommend MIC enough.

I've had a range of jobs before this one, from being a courier, to a support worker, to operating heavy machinery alongside being on the Emergency Response Team within the mines.

I enjoy going to TMC on a nearly daily basis where I train in calisthenics, gymnastics, dance and acro yoga. When I'm not there, you'll find me swimming in the ocean, camping, making art, taking my dog Bruno out to the dog park or beach, or hanging out with friends and family.

I love being a part of the community here at MIC, surrounded by coworkers that I can call friends. I’m excited to meet and welcome you to MIC, striving to provide a hassle-free experience!
